Opening desktop folder using FreeCommander display question

#1 Post by SafeTex » 01.09.2015, 22:41

Hello

After donkeys years, I'm finally getting around to having a look at FreeCommander

i'd like to use it to open my desktop folder but I want FreeCommander to display the folder contents as on my desktop

In other words, I don't want lists or icons in alphabet order or by date or by size or whatever

I just want the icons displayed in FC to appear in the same 'arrangement' as they really are on my desktop (following my own unique logic :D )

Is this possible please :?:

Hello and welcome to the FreeCommander forum!

AFAIK, it's not possible, you can try the right click and Sort by - Unsorted, but it will be a bit different, probably. Arrangement on desktop is not the list of items like A, B, C, D, the icons are sorted quite random all over the desktop, I think it's almost impossible to simulate this in the standard list/details view in FC, even the second item is not sure - is it the second item in row, or second in line?

However, as workaround, you can use the favorites to create the copies of desktop items in desired order.
