Open with VSCode in right-click menu

#1 Post by doman18 » 28.08.2023, 12:23

In Windows explorer when i click on empty space i have "Open with Code" - which is great. In Dolphin (kubuntu) manager the same option is placed in "Open with" menu - also very convenient. But in FC i see FC menu first, this menu contains "Context menu" and there i have this option. But not only it requires additional click but also this original menu opens with slight delay (like 1s). And since i use this function A LOT this is really annoying.

I also added this option to "Favourite tools" menu. But after a month i stil cant get use to use it this way since its completely different from how its done in different pcs i use and from how was doing it for years.

So is it possible to somehow add "Open with Code" to FC context menu somewhere in config files. Or disable FC menu entirely and use original one only?

Here FC show the full context menu with all entries.
You will only see entries for tools with the same bitness.
A 32bit TC doesn't see x64 context menu entries
A x64 FC can't see entries from 32bit only Tools.

What is the problem to understand "here" ?
It means on my system, of course.
Using a 32bit FC version, you don't see x64 tools context menu entries, as I said above.
A x64 FC will show the same context menu entries as shown in Explorer.
You know that you can get the x64 FC version only by spending some money.

Its not as obvious as you think it is.

Ok. Just to be sure: does this x64 bit version cover all installation directories (not only C:\Program Files)? Is it completely independent from installation path? Im asking about this because VSCode is installed in C:\Users\{User}\AppData\Local

I think, the 32 bit version use the 64 bit internal program FcContextMenu64.exe for showing the context menu on 64 bit Windows.
If you now can not see "Open with Code" item, it is possible that FC 64 bit does not show it too.

Just to be sure: we are talking about fc native menu ...
