[RESOLVED] I want to increase the number of registered favorite tools to 20 or more

#1 Post by cip60ckby9v6e4syst » 24.06.2023, 09:09

*I searched the forums but couldn't find it.
*If it has already been discussed and requested, I would be happy if you could guide me to the relevant thread.

I would like to be able to register multiple items like a favorite folder.

I don't know that favorite tools are limited to 20 items.

If you really mean "favorite tools" on the favorites toolbar the instructions are at:

https://freecommander.com/fchelpxe/en/F ... tools.html

You can easily add foldern to the favorites toolbar by drag & drop.

thanks for the reply.
My explanation was bad.

purpose: I would like to increase the number of tools that can be set in the main splitter to 20 or more.

Items that can be registered in the main splitter are only favorite tools. I have several favorite tools that I only use shortcut keys for. Therefore, I wanted to add more than 20 favorite tools.

What precisely are we talking about?

I was referring to Items for Splitter, like for example Refresh, Save Settings, Swap, Quick filter 9, View. I have a total of 37 of them plus 7 Separators

The topic title - "the number of registered favorite tools to 20 or more". Type "favorite tool" in Define action toolbars dialog - quick filter.

Thank you for your reply.
Are there any plans to allow users to set any number of tools?

I don't know.

Why you need so many items in the splitter? Perhaps there is some workaround.

Any number of items can be set in the favorite tools toolbar, horizontal toolbar, in the context menu for the favorite tools button / icon. It is possible to create a Category too, with any number of items in each category, so you could create direct items for most important items and category item for other items.

Another alternative could be Favorites tree, vertical pane.

I understand why the conversation didn't work.

I understand that I can register more than 20 apps in the "Favorite Toolbar".
As I wrote in my first post, I have multiple shortcut keys set as "favorite tools."

According to the specifications of the split bar, the application registration must be registered in the "favorite tool".
Therefore, if there are 15 "favorite tools" set to shortcut keys, the number of apps that can be set to the split bar is 5.
(It is assumed that you do not want the app set as the shortcut key to be displayed in the split bar.)

Is it possible to set apps on the split bar in a way other than "favorite tools"? If you can do that, the problem is solved.

I tried to find some workaround for you, but I need more information.

- How many favorite tool items you need in the splitter - and are they folders or files / exe files?
- How many keyboard shortcuts you need for favorite tool items - and are they folders or files / exe files?

In the splitter it's possible to use Favorite tool items (20), Favorites (20), so it's 40, it's possible to use also drive items, so if you're not using all letters for drives, you could mount a folder as a drive, just you need to assign an icon too, so this way it could be possible to add much more items to the splitter.

If you need more keyboard shortcuts, you can use Favorites (tree) (10, Shift+Ctrl+0 - 10) and Favorite tools (10, Ctrl+0 - 10) and it should be possible to use also Shift+A - Z for letters, if you mouse the folders to those letters.

If you need keyboard shortcuts just to start the specific files, exe files, you can use external program like HotkeyP or AutoHotkey, so you could use more items for the splitter.

OK, so I said, 20 favorite tools for the splitter is a maximum, it's right, but it's possible to add also Favorites there, so it's 40 together.

Thanks Marek for the fundamental solution.

I thought a solution using AHK would be close.
It seems that it can be solved to some extent by combining "copy the full path of the file" and "copy the current directory".
However, the pass copy fails once in several times. (Even if you put wait, it will fail.)
Maybe it's because you're combining FC hotkeys with AHK commands.

Do you know how to fire an FC command other than the FC shortcut key?
I'm not very familiar with it, but I thought it would be a solution if there was a way to send "dllcall" , "postmessage" and "sendmessage" to FC via AHK.
I'm sorry if my understanding is wrong.

Maybe by using free NirCmd by NirSoft: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html?
