Icons for toolbars and menus

#1 Post by ralfso » 27.05.2021, 12:23

Hi Marek,

are the old icons really completely gone?

I've never liked the blurred flat icons, the old icon were much sharper.
Now I can only choose between two sorts of flat icons. :cry:

I agree completely! The flat icons are terrible.

Please give us a way to at least get the old icons so we can add them back - one-by-one - if we choose.

A zip file with the old icon collection would be good. Putting them back into the EXE file would be fantastic.

Hello Marek,
In the 847 version some ICONs have apparently been omitted. It's a shame because I used some of them.
Can you possibly make the download available so that the can reactivate afterwards !!
Would be great, thank you

Hello,
i also would like to have the old icons back. The Icons for delete to bin and delete permanently are the same. This is insecure...

In v848 I have both Icon sets available under Settings/View/Icon Sets.

No, there are two flat sets (flat and flat pro).
The old icons (non flat) are not available.

I agree. I would like to be able to have the old icons available.

My biggest gripe regards the RENAME icons (both for an individual file as well as the other one for "mass rename"). With the larger older icons you could clearly see the difference between these two (which is a relatively small difference but visible and obvious). With the new MUCH SMALLER rename icons it's essentially impossible to distinguish, or even recognize them. I'm "flying blind" and clicking only because of my memory of where those buttons are, rather than having positive visibility.

I don't know why the old icons were removed completely and no longer can even be chosen. But I sure wish I had them back. I guess I'm just really used to them, seeing them just as they were for many many years.

I didn't think the old icons were still in use.
In the next release you need to define in the freecommander.ini:
[Icons]
UseOutdatedBmps=1

In version 848 is FCIcons64.dll no longer needed?
If I remove or rename it there is no effect. If this is true, why is it still present in the distribution?

I re-installed 846 (I thought it might uninstall 848 first but it didn't) and got the "old" icons back. I will not be upgrading anymore until there is an option to keep the "old" icons. This is too bad. This was actually one of the few programs that I actually thought was worth donating to and now I won't be installing future upgrades (well, maybe on a vm just to check).

Oh, take a deep satisfying breath.

Marek has answered already.
In next version the old icons are back.

I dislike the new icons very much. I know we can revert to the old ones in the next release, but it would be much better to be able to choose (or design) your own icon sets.

I am very happy to get the original icons back.

May I suggest that the line in the freecommander.ini file be shown as

[Icons]
UseFlatIcons=0

Marek's suggestion of UseOutdatedBmps indicates that the older icons are disliked, and carries a negative meaning.
