Tooltip for files only displaying occasionally.

#1 Post by Dave F » 06.12.2023, 19:57

HI
Build 880 32-bit public

When I hover the cursor over files the tooltip is displaying only occasionally. It's for all types of files & the display settings (details list, thumbnail etc) makes no difference.

I've tried turning them off/on under View>Show (& saving settings) but to no avail.

Is there a solution to this?

Also, are the Tooltip's values customizable? I'd like it to show the file's modified date.

It's the first time I know this issue. I don't know the answer. However. I think you can find something useful here: https://freecommander.com/en/faq-file-folder-list/.

If you mean the instruction on how to turn tooltips on, then I think my original comment made it clear I knew how to do that.

looks like the resurrection of an old bug:

I can confirm it to be back in 880.

Please check it with the current release 900.

[900]
1) I have got 'Toggle show files tooltip' in my action-toolbar
2) I turn on 'Toggle show files tooltip'
3) the INACTIVE panel now shows files tooltips while the ACTIVE panel does not show files tooltips
4) I switch focus to the other panel
5) I deactivate and immediatley activate 'Toogle show files tooltip'
6) now it works for both panels

btw. turning it off is the same quirky thing

weird tooltip behavior only happens if activated via action-toolbar

if I turn on "Show files and folder tooltip" using the settings dialogue window everything works correctly
