Open Command Prompt Here option gone

#1 Post by Alohadance » 16.04.2023, 09:37

It seems that the "Open Command Prompt Here" option in the right-click context menu has disappeared.
I have already checked with other software, such as Easy Context Menu, and the option is checked for sure.
Additionally, the command prompt option is still present in the system file manager context menu.
The option is there a week ago iirc.

The latest system update is Windows 11 Version 22H2 04 cumulative update (KB5025239).
My Windows version is Windows 11 Pro 10.0.22621. FreeCommander version is FreeCommander XE 2023 Build 887 64-bit donor.
Can I have the option back without reverting the update?
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

There is no such context menu by default in a Windows 11 Explorer or in any file manager.
Why don't you use the button in FC which starts a cmd in the current dir ?
Such a button exists in all file managers.

If you made such a context menu with Easy Context menu tool or any other such tool,
its your problem to make it correct under Windows 11 new context menu functions.

Under Windows 11 you may found under the context menu More options...
if you didn't set to use the old full context menu format.

There is such a context menu by default in Windows 11 Explorer. Even in Windows 10 you can shift right-click with an Open PowerShell window here option.
right-click is simply easier for me and I'm used to opening cmd this way.

I didn't make such a context menu with easy context menu, I just use it to check whether I disabled the option or not, and the answer is no.

Currently, if I right-click in FC and enter the context menu, the menu is Windows 10 version I believe. There is no cmd option for now, although it's there one week ago.
I suspect it is caused by last week's windows update. Is there a way to use the win11 context menu or bring back the cmd option in the current context menu?

See this and you will find that there is no default in Windows 11, as I said.

This link also contains a registry file which even adds an icon to the context entry.
Works fine in FC.

My bad what I mean is open terminal here, my system language isn't English. I have no idea they are separate options.
But the problem is the same, no open terminal here option. I tried some reg files online but it seems not working.
Nevertheless, the "open cmd prompt" option can achieve the same result. Thank you for your assistance.
