Filecontainer not refreshed automatically / no drag and drop
Hi,
when I use a filecontainer the content is not refreshed automatically like is done in a normal tab.
Is there an option to change that a fileconatiner is also refreshed automatically hwen something has changed?
Or is that not supported yet?
Furthermore:
Drag and drop is also not supported in a filecontainer tab?
Furthermore 2:
Filecontainer is a great tool, but with drag and drop and automatic refresh it would be better!
(using FreeCommander XE 2016 Build 728 32-bit donor)

Re: Filecontainer not refreshed automatically / no drag and
I don't use file containers (stopped using em long time ago) so I cannot help you.
I don't like the concept nor its implementation, in my personal work-flow I got too often confused,
as I tend to close tabs, to cut a long story short, file containers just don't feel right (for me).
a better, more modern approach would be, as you would probably suggest, via drag & drop into a dedicated space not a tab!
locate it somewhere in the left bottom for instance, so users could simply drag & drop their files and folders there
and get immediately a visual feed-back.
this is how other FM implement that feature, it's called mini scrap in one case.
maybe one day the author will substitute file containers with something better.

No problem with drag&drop.
Full auto refresh in the container is not possible. Currently it is broken if remove files from container (fixed for the next release).

Re: Filecontainer not refreshed automatically / no drag and
Hello Marek,
thanks for your reply, but I do not understand it in detail!
You say "no problem with drag&drop".
I say drag&drop does work only in one direction: Into the filecontainer but not from the filecontainer to another location within freecommander or otuside freecommander.
Auto refresh: Why is it not possible like it is in a normal tab?

Drag&drop works here in both direction.
When the auto refresh does not work for you?

Re: Filecontainer not refreshed automatically / no drag and
I don't use file containers too much, especially after adding the Queue feature, I think I have already reported some of the issues...
- Drag&drop from file container panel to the other panel (normal or container), or to desktop doesn't work here.
- Drag&drop from file container panel to the other panel - non-container, doesn't work, but it works with a little trick, when you press and hold the Ctrl key before you drag, Copy works - and if you release the Ctrl before you drop the folder, it's changed to Move and this works too, but auto-refresh doesn't work, manual refresh does work.
- Copy or move the file/folder from file container to the other panel with container doesn't work even with the splitter buttons/F5/F6, "operation is not supported".
- Copy the folder or file from container to other panel/non-container (F5) works good.
- Move the file from container to other panel/non-container (F6) works, auto-refresh works either.
- Move the folder from container to other panel/non-container (F6) works, but the empty folder stay in the original location and in the left panel/file container, auto-refresh doesn't work, and even after manual refresh it's there, even if it was moved to different location.
- Removing the item using the remove button works, but auto-refresh doesn't work (sometimes it works).
Tested with build 729 x64, Win10 x64, non default settings, FC copy/move operations, NC mode, single click options, blocking transfer ON.

Drag&drop is broken for "Use blocking transfer..." option.
All problems solved for the next release.

same function, this time a visually modern implementation, hand-crafted using a medieval C++ version
as temp. scrap pane incarnation (BTW, no tabs were harmed )

Re: Filecontainer not refreshed automatically / no drag and
Most bugs have been fixed in 730, thanks, Marek.
There are few issues in 730 though:
- drag the file to file container (copy)
- drag the ffile from container to other panel, folder (non-container) (move)
= file is moved, but it's not removed from file container
- manual refresh works
- drag the folder to file container (copy)
- drag the folder from container to other panel, folder (non-container) (move)
= folder is moved, but it's not removed from file container
- now (double)click the folder in container
= "An error occurred" dialog is displayed, always
- manual refresh works

Fixed/changed in 731, no error dialog, Explorer window is opened instead.- drag the folder to file container (copy)
