644 - Selecting files bug is back
644 - Selecting files bug is back
First steps are the same for all bugs...
- use default settings
- create 6 files in a folder
- go to 4th file
Next steps are different...
#1
- press shift+home
= none files are selected
#2
- press shift+page up
= none files are selected
#3
- press shift+page down
= all files are selected (instead of last 3)
If NC mode is enabled, it works good in all cases.
Win Vista 32 bit.

Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
I can't replicate any of these with my current 644 custom settings nor with 641 or 644 default settings.

Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
@Dreamer
confirmed #1 #2 #3, but only if you go to the 4th file with arrow keys!!
if you select the 4th file with mouse, Shift+PgUp & Shift+PgDown file selection works as expected.
BUT
if you select the 4th file with mouse, Shift+Home & Shift+End cause some quirks when selecting files.
steps for bug...(I'll continue Dreamer's counting)
- use default settings
- create 6 files in a folder
#4
- select 4th file with mouse
- press Shift+Home
= files 1,2,3,4 are selected
--> correct behavior
#5
- select 4th file with mouse with mouse again
- press Shift+End
= files 4,5,6 are selected
--> correct behavior
#6
- select 4th file with mouse with mouse again
- press Shift+Home (file number 4 and above are selected, that's correct)
- press Shift+End
= all files are selected
--> incorrect behavior, because only file 4,5,6 should be selected

Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
#1-6 are gone on my machine
after a while of fooling around with Shift-selection, there is one tiny glitch that I realized.
in real world usage it would probably never happen, but ...
steps for bug...(I'll continue the counting from above)
- use default settings
- create 6 files in a folder
#7
- select the 4th file (with mouse or arrow-keys that's not relevant)
- press Shift+PgUp
- press Shift+Home (that's a really stupid action, I know)
= first file is deselected
--> incorrect behavior, because file 1,2,3,4 should be selected
off topic:
FCXE644 & FCXE645 feel really snappy. is it just me or can somebody confirm my experience?

#7 - confirmed. Rest is fixed in 645.
Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
Don't know about #7, but snappy confirmed!
Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
oh, I'm afraid I've found another one in NC-Mode
#8
- switch to nc-mode
- activate 'Use FreeCommander' for copying files/folders
- select one/more files
- press F5
= you can continue the copy-action but as soon as the copy window appears all files are deselected
--> not correct, if I cancel copying there are no files in selection.

#8 - confirmed in NC-mode under Windows XP 32 bit in FC XE 645
really uncomfortable if you cancel copy operation

Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
#8 confirmed.
BTW #7 is not a critical bug, I'm not sure if fixing this one doesn't create other bugs, as before. Marek wants to release the final version soon (probably before Xmas), so it's on him if he try to fix it now, or later - on beta (not public) version. I'd be for option two.

Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
one more problem (NC-Mode is used)
#9
- switch to nc-mode
- no matter what you use - 'Use FreeCommander' or 'Use Windows' for deleting files/folders
- select one/more files
- press F8 of Shift+F8 or Shift+Ctrl+F8
after you see confirmation dialog for deleting files press Cancel
- there are no files in selection
(problem is similar to #8 that was already fixed)

Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
Timon, which version are you using?
#9 - I can't confirm it with FC mode and NC disabled, for Win mode I use no dialog in Windows setting.
However, I can confirm it with FC mode + NC enabled.
Using build 6482 (not released).

Re: 644 - Selecting files bug is back
FC mode + NC enabled
or
Win mode + NC enabled
FC XE 6482
Problem is still present in FC XE 650

Confirmed in 650, it was too late to fix this one before the final version.
