625 instead of copying opens new tab with path of source fol

#1 Post by sdb » 04.06.2013, 14:54

instead of copying per drag and drop from the left to the right panel (or vice versa), it opens a new tab in the target panel with the path of the source folder.

i am not sure if this is bug...

I can confirm this one, it's a bug, I just wanted to report it.

To reproduce just drag any item from one panel to another. Shortcut icon is showing instead of copy and the keys Ctrl, Shift and Alt don't work either.

Problem occurs only if new option "Use blocking transfer - works with all programs and devices" is switched off.

When this is switched on, drag and drop does not work.

Right, if the option is disabled, it works as in the first post, with the shortcut icon displaying, if the option is enabled, it doesn't work at all, no icon. I'm not sure how this option works exactly, BTW.

if option is disabled, it works as in the first post - a new tab in the target panel appears;
if option is enabled, it doesn't work at all, BUT dragging with CTRL key (for opposite option) works fine.

In my case (fc xe 625 on win7x64sp1, details view, "show popup menu for left button drop" enabled):
- "use blocking transfer" enabled -> drag&drop works fine (including copying with Ctrl)
- "use blocking transfer" disabled -> bug appears (new tab...)
I had "use blocking transfer" enabled, that's why I didn't experience the bug in the beginning.

I'm glad to see this being reported and confirmed. It began in 624.
Here's what I'm experiencing in 625 (Win 7 x64):

"Use blocking transfer" NOT enabled
- Cannot drag to other panel, or to another folder in the same panel.
- Drag-action icon is the blue arrow (meaning: create shortcut).
- Modifier keys (Ctrl, Shift, Alt) do not change the drag-action icon.
- Instead of dragging, the actual result is to replicate the source tab in the destination panel.

"Use blocking transfer" ENABLED
From LEFT PANEL to folder in same panel or to other panel:
- Must use Ctrl when starting the drag, otherwise nothing happens.
- If drag is started with Ctrl, then everything works as in a normal drag.

From RIGHT PANEL:
- Everything works correctly; Ctrl is not needed to start a drag operation.

Right! Nice finding.

I can't confirm this one.

BTW - as others said already, CTRL must be pressed before dragging, so perhaps the option should be renamed from this:

"Start dragging with CTRL key for opposite option"

...to something like this:

"Press CTRL key before dragging for opposite option"

I agree with Dreamer's suggested rewording -- it is more clear.
