686 - File sorting issues

#1 Post by ok1 » 02.03.2015, 23:59

Have found some issues with sorting as follows. Tested using the portable donor version 686 on Windows 2008 R2 and using both my settings and the "clean" command line i.e. /N /NewIni=FreeCommanderTest.ini /NoPlugins /Lng=English

Issues

1) Default date sort using Ctrl/F5 is ascending vs. Windows default of descending

2) Default size sort using Ctrl/F6 is ascending vs. Windows default of descending

3) The action toolbar buttons for Name, Date, Size only work "once" i.e. they will sort but when you click them a second time the sort is not reversed. Their sort order is also wrong as above.

Have tried using

a) Settings -> View -> Sorting and changing Sorting from 'Natural sorting (as Explorer)' to the other values

b) Settings -> View -> Column profiles using a mask of * and setting the various columns

However it works as expected if you list details and click on the column header.

Windows is not the best thing for imitation (otherwise you would have made no attempts to find another file manager)

But I think it's time to introduce something like Look'n'Feel Setup in Multicommander.

There we can quickly optimize program behaviour like in Windows Explorer (same shortcuts and mouse configs as in Windows explorer, right mouse button - context menu, F2 - rename, F5 - refresh, selection like in explorer) or like in NC (F5 - Copy, NC mode selection and so on...)

Sorry should have also stated that I have been a long time user of the old venerable version 2009.02b and going to the new version I immediately noticed the change in behaviour.

I have noticed lots of improvements in the new version so I really like it but the change in sorting is a little "disappointing".

1) Default date sort using Ctrl/F5 is ascending vs. Windows default of descending
2) Default size sort using Ctrl/F6 is ascending vs. Windows default of descending
Changed in the release 687.

3) The action toolbar buttons for Name, Date, Size only work "once" i.e. they will sort but when you click them a second time the sort is not reversed.
Open "Details for a toolbar item" http://www.freecommander.com/fchelpxe/e ... lbars.html and change the "Group index" for each button to unique value. Use values > 200.
