New Word document in context menu creates a text file

Hi all

I have noticed that when I right-click and select to create a new MS Word file, FreeCommander creates a txt file instead of doc/docx. I am running Build 673 x64. I tested it on the public x86 and the problem is not there.

Can somebody confirm the issue? Thanks!

Confirmed!

When using the context menu "New" to create a Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel document and entering only a "name" (without an extension) will create a file named <name>.txt.

However, if an extension is added in the prompt window, that extension is used to name the file.

In each case, the file created is of the correct format; only the file name is in error if an extension is not supplied.

This happens in both Beta 673 x86 and x64 versions.

This does NOT happen in Beta 670 x86 or x64 versions.

An additional curiosity is the modified dates of files created with the "New" context menu.

A text file is created with today's date.

An Excel file is created with a modified date in Feb 2000.

A Word file is created with a modified date in Aug 1997.

They all should have today's date. This may be due to an un-initialized variable. If so, the dates may change from one system to another.

I'm seeing something similar except the Modified dates are different. I also see that when I try to create a new openoffice document of any type using the FC New context menu option, it completely fails.

When I do the same using the standard windows file manager, everything works ok.

A quick update. I completely uninstalled 673 and installed 672 and I can successfully create MS Office docs but the modify dates are still wrong (see screen shot below). I also still cannot create any new OpenOffice docs.

Up until this, the Donate beta version has been working great :).
