When I copy a file from MTP (iPhone 5S), the copied file will have no extension anymore.
I tried it with *.mp4 and *.jpg

Win7? Win8? F5/F6 or "drag/drop" with mouse?

Assuming you're using "drag/drop" (since F5/F6 doesn't work right, at least with Win7 and WinXP), I cannot duplicate with my Galaxy S4 phone using PNG (screenshot) file. Copied file retains PNG extension. Build 666.

Same success with MP3 and FLAC... copied files retain the extension.

HOWEVER...

None of the copied files from MTP source (with mouse drag/drop, which is the only thing that works for me on Win7) gets the "A" (archive) attribute flag turned on, which any new/updated file always should. This is contrary to how things do work correctly when the source pane is a normal folder from a drive that has a Windows drive letter associated with it.

This has been reported previously, as part of the list of issues regarding support of MTP devices in FCXE.

Sorry, you are right.
Win8 with F5.

So you're saying that with Win8, using F5 to copy the file from phone to PC works (which it does not using Win7) but results in the loss of the extension on the copied file.

What happens if instead of F5 you use the mouse, and just drag/drop from the phone pane to the PC pane. Is the extension now retained in the copied file, or does the extension also disappear this way as well?

I have just tested it again.
Drag and Drop does not remove the extension only F5 does (did not test F6, as I do not want to remove the files from my iphone)

667 is still removing the file extension on a copy with F5. Drag and drop works.

F5 worked fine for me with Win7. Extension retained on copied file.

Ok great, so it seems to be fixed under Win7, but not under Win8.

I see no problem with file extension on my Win8 (copy from Samsung S3 phone or Samsung tablet).
Start FreeCommander with empty freecommander.ini and try again.

Hi.

I tried it with a fresh .ini, but no difference.
Crazy is, that already the copy dialog leaves off the extension?
Maybe you copy without the dialog?

Don't Apple environments have no extension or at least in the folder you're copying from on the iPhone?

Look at the SOURCE in your screenshot... no extension there to begin with.

In the source window there is the normal extension you would expect (.jpg).
I would have made the error report different if that would be the reason.
Everything looks nice until the copy.
Drag and drop also copies the extension, so if the source would not have it, why should drag and drop do it right?

Could you check your Windows Explorer settings? Can you see the extensions in Explorer?

Could be the reason. Usually, as I am primarily using FC, I usually never deal with the explorer settings for the extensions.
I will try later today.

Just tested it.
When I turn on file extensions on windows, it is working in FC.
But I would guess, that is is not an intended behavior?
