Marking this as a bug as there's no way of knowing of the name is longer than can be displayed.

+1.
Workaround - For status bar create the item for images, for filter use "*.bmp;*.gif;*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.png;*.tga;*.tif;*.tiff" or other extensions if needed and for "Define details" add item "[fc_name]", this way you can see the full filename, just it doesn't work for folders.

For focused, currently active item, just one, so you have to click the item, or focus is with arrow keys. It's just a workaround.
BTW I already created the new topic for thumbnail issues, I just found another one, adding it to that topic too, it's for the donor version, but it's also in 810a 32-bit public.

I normally hoover over the file and read the tool tip to check its full name.

I see there's an issue with tool tips also as per your bug report.

I confirm the missing three dots on long file and folder names.
on a side note: I noticed Windows Explorer shows a maximum of four lines before the three dots are shown, in FC there is only a maximum of two lines for file and folder names in thumbnail view.
