To reproduce:
- use default settings
- enable "Splitter hot spot visible" for view, quick viewer, tree and favorites tree
- open the Tree, alt+t
- click the hot spot (in the middle of the splitter)
- tree is hidden, correct
- click the hot spot again
- tree is visible again, correct
- now click the hot spot again
- tree is hidden
- press alt+t
- tree is disabled, splitter is not visible, correct, but the splitter position/ tree size is not saved
- press alt+t again
= tree is not opened, just the splitter is visible, position is lost
- try to click the hot spot
- still the same, no change
To shot the tree you have to manually resize the tree, using the splitter.
It's the same with the folder tree, favorites tree, and quick viewer.
Workaround - it could be this feature request:

818 - "Splitter hot spot visible" position issue
Re: 818 - "Splitter hot spot visible" position issue
In 819 the original position should be saved and restored.
Re: 818 - "Splitter hot spot visible" position issue
It works good, but only for tree and favorite tree, still broken with quick viewer.
