818 - FC will load files from onedrive which have attribute offline

#1 Post by Mr-Fly » 06.05.2020, 12:35

When using selective download with onedrive, FC will download the file to look at some details, if configured in some area (I found status bar for JPG).
I believe FC should check the attribute first if the file is available on disk and only do check details if the file is on disk. otherwise this can have a huge impact of downloads.

Edit: Just checked on columns: If you add a column that needs FC to look deeper in the file (eg. Exif - Date Taken) then all files in the folder will be automatically be download to check on the files.

I can handle now (Build 819) the new file attribute "Recall on data access" (e.g. for not local OneDrive files).
For files with this attribute the details for status bar will be not loaded.

Hi Marek,

Tried this with OneDrive4Business and it still downloads a JPG, which i before marked as "empty space on local drive".
It still downloads the JPG, when I move the cursor on it?

Regards
Thorsten

Edit: Some Screenshots.
While pressing on the JPG, this dialog appears:

The Onedrive Dialog shows my unloading and the loading initiated by FC:

Have you checked first if the file has the attribute "Recall on data access" (Attributes/Timestamp dialog)?

I cant. Because when I select it to get to the dialog, the file will be downloaded ;-)
The Attributes Dialog works fine on anything that is not "hit" by the status bar process like eg. a .txt file.
But on a JPG it will be immediately downloaded, so the dialog will show me the "Recall on data access" being not checked.

Change the filter in the status bar from *.jpg too "*.jpp" and check the status then.

Hello Marek.

Checked on the attribute and yes it is checked.
File is also not downloaded when I rename filter string.
One thing I noticed:
How do you get the file properties?
In Powershell (dont know if this is important), when I do a $test=Get-Childitem and then do $test | fl * or select * it will load the file, as it also reads extended attributes.

OK, I have found and fixed the problem with jpg.
I use Windows API functions for reading basic properties - Attributes and Timestamps.
