814: auto-refresh after unzip/Winrar no longer happens

#1 Post by dsperber » 09.03.2020, 03:02

I right-click on a ZIP file, get the context popup menu and select WINRAR and then select one of the unzip options (typically either (a) "here" or (b) to an automatically named folder with the same name as the zip file). The unzip process then occurs.

Normally, the FCXE presentation automatically refreshes to show the new appearance of all of the newly extracted/created one or more folders/files resulting from the extraction. I didn't need to do anything in order to automatically see the results of the unzip.

Well, it no longer happens. Nothing changes. Now it is necessary for me to manually do View -> Refresh, in order to now see the results of the unzip.

Confirmed here also. I use Bandizip and get the same issue. I have rolled back to 813 until fixed.

815 has been released. Confirmed that this bug has been fixed in 815.

Case closed.

[815] still a bit buggy - sometimes for auto-refresh.

if I delete a file with another program (e.g. in Word Save-As dialog) auto-refresh is still not reliable.
* sometimes it auto-refreshes immediately --> no problem
* sometimes it auto-refreshes with several seconds delay (up to 30sec) --> minor problem, but annoying
* sometimes it auto-refreshes only after changing focus to another file --> minor problem, but annoying

I don't understand how FCXE figures into this scenario. Are you saying you have both FCXE open to a folder, and also Word open to the same folder?

And then while in the word Save-As dialog you first delete some other existing file before "saving" your current document under whatever name you choose (or maybe even instead choosing to abort the SAVE entirely, thus only actually deleting a file while in the Save-As dialog before pushing the CANCEL button)? And it is in this situation, that the simultaneously open FCXE 815/816 window intermittently fails to auto-refresh reliably instantly?

If not this story, what exactly is the precise description of the "unreliable auto-refresh by FCXE" situation that you're actually describing?
