SUGGESTION - MultiRename Window

#1 Post by sdaughtry » 27.07.2019, 19:19

Please assign the F2 key as a hotkey to fully display the droplist of saved profiles for folks (like myself) that are more keyboard oriented. At current, there is no keyboard key assigned to that window control to 'drop' the list of saved renaming profiles

What about this option:

Activate profiles combo box first

Greetings,

I have that option checked within my FC; after I select files/folders to rename from the main window on my Windows 10 box, the MultiRename window appears, but the profiles droplist is not activated to autodisplay the list of saved renaming profiles. I have to take my hand off the keyboard, grab my mouse, move it to the PROFILES droplist, left click it to display the list of saved profiles. This is using the FreeCommander XE 2019 Build 800 64-bit donor version that I updated just this morning - this behavior has existed since I started using FC many years ago. Am I missing something obvious (which has been known to happen) <g>?

You can use just a keyboard, Space to select files, F2, arrow keys to select profile - or start typing the profile name, Enter key, no need to use a mouse.

Interesting.. I never knew the space bar did that! I would still prefer having the F2 as a hotkey to drop the list, as that is what Total Commander has and I have that keystroke burned into my skull...

I would also like to see the length of the Profiles droplist at least doubled - the current width cuts the profile name off

Activate profiles combo box first
If you use the option the combo box is active. The Windows standard for opening the combo box list items is F4.

I didn't know about the F4 hotkey, thanks for the hint, Marek.

Perhaps the other way would be better, because I think 99% FC users don't know about this hotkey. Automatically open the combo box, possible?

More hints:
- If the focus is on the root item [..], you can use just F2 to select all files and open the multi rename window.
- If you are not using the option "Activate profiles combo box first", you can use the shortcut Ctrl+Tab to switch to Profiles tab, then use arrow keys to select one and Enter 2x to rename (you need to use also the option "Close dialog after rename")
