SUGGESTION - Add option to auto remove - Shortcut from any created

#1 Post by stephen147 » 11.07.2019, 19:42

If I copy then paste as a shortcut or right drag a file to create a shortcut in FC.

Would it be possible to FC to auto-remove the - Shortcut string from the end of the filename?

You can use Multi rename, Ctrl+M, use profile or last used settings, just add " - Shortcut" to Search for field.

Yes, I'm aware of the rename tool. It just would be nice to truncate that string out automatically.

You can prevent it by registry setting:

Not sure if Marek would want to add this in the future but this is great thank you.

Just follow the steps below as that link didn't show the quicker way to that reg value. Plus on Windows 10 there appears to be 4 extra dots in that binary value but these cannot be edited so that's fine.
  1. Paste this to number 1 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
  2. You'll be brought to the Explorer tree.
  3. Select 3 and go to File → Export and then save that to file. Double click 3
  4. Change to this value
  5. Restart
If anyone screws up this then import the reg file back in and start again.
