716 - false positives?
716 - false positives?
my trend micro office scan is detecting a virus with freecommander.exe in 716 when i'm running. freecommander works fine for a minute or two, then trend micro shuts it down and deletes the exe.
i've downloaded the portable version twice with the same results.
Is anyone else getting any virus scan issues with the 716 beta?

Re: 716 - false positives?
I use Trend (and don't think it is all that good) but no a/v issues with it. I submitted the FreeCommander.exe to VirusTotal and it returned all clean.
Re: 716 - false positives?
FC is clean and it always has been! Just don't use third party download links!

Re: 716 - false positives?
i've always downloaded direct from the Freecommander site. my concern was maybe the FTP function in Freecommander was making trend read it as a false positive for some dumb reason.
I've been using FC-XE for a long time and this was the first time i saw this issue.
thanks for the confirmation that it's not FC-XE
cheers,
Jd

Re: 716 - false positives?
In the last couple of months, Trend Micro OfficeScan real-time scan quarantines FreeCommander.exe 716 (both 32- and 64-bit versions) when I copy more than one file at a time from the file list to a folder in the tree. The threat is identified as "Unauthorized File Encryption". I'm fine as long as I don't copy files in that manner. FreeCommander 2009.02b doesn't get quarantined.

So you should write a note to Trend Micro about their strange misbehaving program.h_flashman4002 wrote:In the last couple of months, Trend Micro OfficeScan real-time scan quarantines FreeCommander.exe 716 (both 32- and 64-bit versions) when I copy more than one file at a time from the file list to a folder in the tree. Sorry, the problem was TeraCopy, not FreeCommander 716. I uninstalled TeraCopy and have had no more problems.horst.epp wrote:So you should write a note to Trend Micro about their strange misbehaving program.h_flashman4002 wrote:In the last couple of months, Trend Micro OfficeScan real-time scan quarantines FreeCommander.exe 716 (both 32- and 64-bit versions) when I copy more than one file at a time from the file list to a folder in the tree. Re: 716 - false positives?
Even in that case, this is abnormal behavior of Trend Micro. You should write to Trend Micro about that false positive.Sorry, the problem was TeraCopy, not FreeCommander 716. I uninstalled TeraCopy and have had no more problems.
Some time ago I had to use that antivirus in corporate network. He found viruses a few weeks after they appeared on PC. After I replaced it to another AV-software, there was no PC that had no viruses after first scan.

730 (64 Bit) portable still affected
I used 729 64 Bit portable many times without problems.
I updated today to 730 64 Bit portable. When I tried to copy a file with F5 TrendMicro shut down fc and quarantined the .exe. Same error: Unauthorized File Enryption.
