Mainicon changed? Why?

#1 Post by ralfso » 26.08.2015, 15:51

Hi Marek,

why did you change the MAINICON of FCXE b 695 from the orange icon back to the blue icon?
Til 693 (maybe 694) FCXE had the orange one. (portabel 64bit, don't know about setup version)

I've been searching for my FreeCommander Taskbar entry and didn't find FC because I was searching for the orange icon.
For me the blue icon always was the flag for the old FC2009 (which I had installed for a long time parallel with FCXE).

Can I get back the orange MAINICON?

I don't like to use Ressource Hacker to change the icon back.
Regards
Ralf

Already long time ago main icon was changed to blue.
To change icon, you have to select FC XE shortcut Properties, select Change icon... and select orange one (it is still there). So there is no need to use Resource Hacker or something similar. But blue icon can get back by default after updating to the next version. I had the same problem, but after a while I could not understand how used old orange icon (now I like blue icon much more).

The old fcIconNr=2 works for me too (if you like orange icon in main window).

Glad this thread was started. I did not know the blue icon existed. I have been using the orange one and have always had trouble working quickly in the task bar because the orange one is too close to the Firefox icon (blue surrounded by orange). No more clicking the wrong task when working quickly!

Thanks for discussing,

Karol you remembered me of that freecommander.ini-entry. Thanks
But before opening this thread I searched all my ini-backups for that entry and didn't find it.
Maybe I deleted it long abo when the orange Icon became MAINICON.

I looked into freecommander.exe 695 and found:
Mainicon: blue
NFCIcon32: blue
PFCIcon32: orange

while freecommander.exe 694 and before:
Mainicon: orange
NFCIcon32: blue
PFCIcon32: orange

So putting fcIconNr=2 into my INI did the trick (the numbers of the 3 icons are 0, 1, 2)

@Timon: Changing FC XE shortcut Properties (Icon) only changes the icon of the shortcut, not the program icon in taskbar
and I like the orange icon because its brighter on a black taskbar.
Regards
Ralf

@ralfso: in which section of the freecommander.ini file should fcIconNr=2 go? I've added it to the first section ([Form]), to no avail. Thx.

[Form]
FcIconNr=2

It changes the program icon in taskbar and in titlebar, not the icon of a shortcut.
You have to edit the ini while FC is closed.

Thank you, that's exactly what I did. But this, I hadn't followed, which explains why the icon (pinned to Windows 8.1 taskbar) didn't change:
not the icon of a shortcut
Thank you.
