FC won't start

#1 Post by BillyDick » 22.02.2014, 02:08

Just started a couple days ago. Click on the FC icon in taskbar and nothing happens. Cannot get FC to open. Have to right-click and click Exit. I've tried re-installing but still won't work. Happened about the same time on 2 xp sp3 pc's. I'm using the portable version on both machines.
Any suggestions?

Edit: FC version 6.50
Edit2: Deleted the portable FC, downloaded the regular install version, installed but no difference. FC refuses to start.

Start it again, please, and check to see if there is a process (FreeCommander.exe) running in the task manager.

I use Process Explorer and Yes, FreeCommander.exe is running with a PID of 4180.

Update: Uninstalled FreeCommander and re-installed the portable version. Went to C:\Documents and Settings\William Algie\Local Settings\Application Data\FreeCommanderXE\Settings and found 5 Settings Backups. Picked the earliest one and did a Copy/Paste of the 5 settings files. Started FreeCommander, clicked on the icon in the Taskbar, and Voila, FreeCommander came up.
What could have become corrupted in the settings files? Would it make any sense if I sent these files to you?

I can try to see if your broken Freecommander.ini file works for me, but, most importantly, send it to Marek.

I sent the .ini file to your and Marek's email addresses. Hope you can find what happened.
