Extended copy/move functionality

#1 Post by omerfree » 08.02.2008, 18:40

Copy is done using Windows internal copy feature.

New features like auto rename (when file already exists), pre-view of file if already exists and copy progress (real copy progress - not like windows copy command ! :) ) are welcome.

Omer.

I'd like this function too.
I searched for a filecommander and found this hoping to have an extended copy-function. But nothing at all.

I hope this feature will be add soon, otherwise I have to look for another filemanager as there are thousands available. :?

I would add to this an option to preserve time/date of files/directories when copying/moving. Obviously this can't be done by windows explorer.

For those looking for a way to copy/synch files and folders while maintaining the timestamps (Modified AND Created), CopySynch (http://www.jpgriffiths.com/default.shtml) is the only free program I've found that does the trick. If anyone knows of any other solution, especially a 'commander-like' program, please post it.

For me this is the greatest (and maybe the only one) disadvantage of FreeCommander. I think that implementing native FC copy/move functions should have high priority in development.

I agree this would be a welcome addition to FC.

I would like to see a progress indicator for the current file showing file x of y plus a percentage of the current file and another indicator showing the percentage for the whole job.

And also, please add the following:
Shift+F5 to copy in-place (in the same directory)
Shift+F6 to rename in-place

It'd be great.

You can set it in Extras -> KeyboardShortcuts... -> File - Rename. Also uncheck the button "Use dialog window for rename" in Settings -> Confirmations. Enjoy :)

Sure, I did it in the same way, but I'd like this also to be default combination whem FC is installed for the first time ;)
