Each tab in a separate Process space

#1 Post by eabhimanyu » 11.09.2008, 17:53

I believe as of now all tabs run in same process. In this case what happens is that Whenever I try to open a Network folder, the whole Free Commander window stalls till the network resource is opened. If we can run each tab in it's own process space then even if one tab is busy we can access other tabs. This will be a cool feature. It may come at the cost of some performance, but then it will increase usablity to a large extent. What says?

Hmm... Yes, it's a good option, but AFAIK it's not easy to implement. And Marek hasn't enough time to do this job. So, in my opinion, it's unlikely will be done. :?

This would be the way of the future given Google's Chrome. Not saying it would be easy, but it would be worth the effort for stability.

Besides, this would then enable different views (including different sort orders) for different tabs, so one tab can be permantly set up for one directory viewed in the same way, irrespective of what views other directories have set up.
