"Open file/folder with single click"
"By click on extension or free space in label"
"By click on item icon"
Thanks to these options we can focus, open, and select any item with a single click, e.g.:
Code: Select all
| focus | open | select |
| | | |
|(*icon)| filename | .txt |
The problem is, that sometime it's not easy to find the exact place where the "free space in label" is, therefore the item is opened by mistake sometime.
Possible solutions / suggestions:
- Use a different cursor icon, if it's over the item for "open" use "hand" icon, for "focus" use "arrow" icon, for "select" perhaps "arrow" icon or some other.
- Use "Hot track" (highlight) the item just for the item part which is used, so if the cursor is over icon, highlight just icon part, if it's over the name, highlight just name, and if it's over the extension or over the "free space in label", highlight just this part.
- If the previous suggestion is impossible, then use hot track / highlight the item only if the cursor is over the name, not over the icon or extension, so it will be clear, that if hot track is used, the file will be opened, it would prevent accidental file open when clicking the extension to select.
