Start up delay fix ?

#1 Post by fcny » 30.05.2020, 17:26

I have a relatively simple system, just two hard drives, NO network drives (EVER) and over time start up has gotten slower and slower. Is there a fix for this other then uninstalling and going through the system to delete every mention of FC ?

How to report a bug (Read before posting!) - FreeCommander Forum

Which version are you using, which OS? Is it just the first start after PC start?

Do you have any tabs with desktop, system folders, recycle bin, or tree with desktop, or perhaps enabled plain view on some tab with thousands of items, or enabled option to show size of folders?

If you have HDD, is auto-defrag enabled in system?

First, upgrade FC to latest version, if you don't have the latest version.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit with Freecommander xe 2018 build 770 32-bit public.

It is NOT just the first tmie after boot up. Though if I close it, reopen it it seems faster. I know I open and close it several times a day and it is still slow at the end of the day.

I use just a single file folder tree view and single file list panel (showing details), no other tabs. This slow response will even happen when opening to directories with a dozen files. Folder sizes are NOT shown.

Auto defrag does run.

Thank you.
