Defaults for Unpack Zip File

When I use the "Unpack" zip file function in the Action Toolbar, my last setting for "Use current folder" is remembered in the FreeCommander.ini file as the entry UseCurrentDir=1. However, the option for "Unpack in subfolder" is not remembered. I always have to Uncheck ...

Re: Copying folders

It looks like you are trying to manually do what the Synchronize Folders function was designed to do.

I use Synch to backup files to a Network Attached Storage and other computers on my network. It works great.

Re: New PDF Previewer

The QuickViewer pane certainly shows it, and when I push F3 Adobe Reader is launched. The program that runs when pressing F3 is defined in Settings > Programs > Viewers Tab If you have defined Adobe Reader to act as the F3 viewer for *.pdf files, it will launch. If you uncheck the box for the *.pdf...

Re: Bug or "feature"? Selector jumps unnecessarily

5. Not sure what you mean by "column sorting". My files are (usually) sorted on File name. That is exactly what column sorting means. If you click on a column header, the sort will change to that attribute. Multiple clicks will change between descending and ascending sort order. Your answ...

Re: Bug or "feature"? Selector jumps unnecessarily

I just thought of another possibility. Windows has a strange way of sorting filenames containing special characters. In your example, you changed Ck22.docx to Ck22-FINAL.docx Try changing it to Ck22_FINAL.docx Using the Underscore character in place of the Dash character can change the sort. So to m...

Re: Bug or "feature"? Selector jumps unnecessarily

- I edit the name, turning it into “ck22-FINAL.docx”. I leave the filename editor with the return key. - Immediately upon doing so, the screen changes. My edited name, ck22-FINAL.docx, jumps to the bottom of the screen, even though the alphabetic sequence did not change. That’s the “jumping” I was ...

Re: Bug or "feature"? Selector jumps unnecessarily

I cannot confirm the behavior you reported. I tested R-685 x32 on a Win 7 x64 system. I set up a folder with enough files to fill the file panel 2 times and set the details sort mode to filename. When I edited a file name, the file position would remain the same if the sort did NOT change; it would ...

Re: 687 - DOS Box has stopped working

I also noticed that the following works as well:

DosCommandBoxSpec=%comspec%

This sets the system defined command processor (which is of course cmd.exe)

Re: 687 - DOS Box has stopped working

That workaround solved the issue!

Thank you so much. The next question is, why did this happen?

687 - DOS Box has stopped working

Any attempt to bring up the DOS Box Fails: Ctl-D, Tools>DOS box, or a Toolbar Button

This happens for FCXE-687 32-bit and 64-bit Portable versions

The DOS Box works correctly in 685 and 686 (and other earlier versions)

Re: Scrolling via Thinkpad Touchpad is not working in FC

I have a Toshiba Satellite P-50 with Windows 8.1 I tried the Registry Edit suggested by Marek and it had no affect on the scroll operations in Windows File Explorer or FreeCommander XE (R673). However, I found that after using the touchpad to position the cursor to the scroll bar, I had to press the...

I agree. It takes up too much space.

Re: Mouse Wheel Scroll - Still an issue?

I posted about this bug last January ( http://www.forum.freecommander.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5622#p17434 ) Notice that the number of lines scrolled in the list pane will change based on the operating system. So this is not a number hard coded into FreeCommanderXE. I would also like to see this ...

Re: 672 - Can't run third-party installer from FCXE 64-bit

This is just an idea...

I use Avast Anti-Virus (Free) and I often have to disable Avast when I am installing software, because it gets in the way with constant popup windows and can mess with the timing of the installer. I always disable it when I install Windows updates.

I hope this helps.

Re: New Word document in context menu creates a text file

An additional curiosity is the modified dates of files created with the "New" context menu. A text file is created with today's date. An Excel file is created with a modified date in Feb 2000. A Word file is created with a modified date in Aug 1997. They all should have today's date. This ...
